Since the Viking Age, Icelanders have relied on cairns to indicate pathways across the land. Cairns are still an important wayfinding tool in Iceland and a reminder of the past.
The Edition Hotel in Reykjavik wanted to honor that tradition by building a cairn as a centerpiece in their lobby. The cairn stands as a monument to the culture, artistry, and craftsmanship of the Icelandic people.
Constructed in the traditional Icelandic style, but with a modern twist, each of the stones is carefully placed to form a unique spiral design.
